A Cakey Catastrophe

Image
So let me explain. This is a picture of plan B. Plan "B" was a plan I didn't know was even possible. But thanks to my amazing mom, this was possible.       Today, June 30, is my half birthday, and our tradition is on our half birthday we get half a cake, can pick dinner, and no chores. Yeah, pretty sweet for only being half of an age!       Anyway, do to my mom being sentenced to bed I had to make my own cake. It didn't work. Sooooooo, I did this instead. This is a trifle. It is the pattern of food. It goes whip cream, cake, raspberries, and then more whip cream.      I got to make my own whip cream and I'm going to tell you how in case you guys want to make your own whip cream. Even though the cake didn't work out, and I'm kinda sad, I still got to learn how to make a new thing. Here's how: You will need: 1. A box of cake mix 2. A half pint of cream 3. Raspberries or any fruit 4. Glass cups First bake one box of cake mix and let it cool off tho

A Mod Podge Experience

Image
A couple of days ago, my friend Paisley posted on her blog a tutorial on how to make a Mod Podge book cover. I immediately wanted to do it myself, and started to take my own pictures to prepare for my own tutorial so that all of you guys would know how if you do not read Paisley's blog.       Here are the first steps: You will need the following, Mod Podge, construction paper in whatever colors you want, a paint brush (was well when done) of course the book you want to do the project on, and if you want glitter/sequence.      After you have all your needed materials, start by tearing your paper into small pieces. You can use large pieces or cut it into squares. It all depends on how you want your book to look.      Next add Mod Podge to the cover of your book and start to stick your pieces of paper on top of the Mod Podge. You can do a different color on the spine of your book it you want, that's what I ended up doing.      Once you have covered the front of the book and

About My Book

Image
This, is the cover for my book Element Fire. The first book in a series I hope to start, and finish, called The Element Series. The book idea is mine, even though the name you see is not. Margret L. Clay is just my pen name. And fun fact: If you did not know this, Mark Twain was a pen name also. His real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens.  For all the writers out there, you know finishing one book can be hard. Now imagine me, a thirteen-year-old girl, trying to write a whole book series, preferably before I go to veterinary college! Yeah, I know. It's a lot. Writing has been a big part of me my whole life. Starting with me writing silly poems that often didn't even rhyme.  When I was learning to read (which as a writer I know that reading other books has helped me be better in my own writing) I HATED it. I thought it was awful and boring and I didn't think it was an important thing to learn. But now, I am a HUGE reader and I love it more than life. So there.      I think

A love for Dragons

Image
I think it's time I start talking a bit about myself. How do I start? Um duh! I. LOVE. DRAGONS! Dragons are my favorite thing in the whole world besides my family and my faith. I love them sooo much and think they are amazing and mystifying.  There are so many reasons to love dragons. But I just love them so much sometimes it's hard to think about why I love them. I guess one of the reasons I love dragons is because no matter what book you read or what drawings you see, dragons can always be exactly how you want them.  I love to read fantasy books. But I especially love to read ones about dragons. This drawing is my version of a dragon named Glory from the book series I love, Wings of Fire.  Wings of Fire is a book all about dragons. The whole story is set from the perspective of dragons. There are fifteen books and I love all of them.       I draw all sorts of kinds of dragons, but I found out I love to draw them when I was making a gift for my friend. It involved me drawing

A Long Ride Home

Image
Just yesterday, me and my brother's two weeklong trip to Iowa ended, and the long ten-hour journey back home started. The trip was divided. My friend's mother would take us five hours of the way (all of which was spent watching the show "Jessie") and then we would meet up with our dad who would take us the other five hours.  Our meeting place was an amazing restaurant which served overly large milkshakes. I should know, I nearly threw up over one.      After finishing our drinks, we waited outside for my dad. We waited about fifteen minutes. When he got there, we said out goodbyes to our friends and headed on our way. After my dad got a burger at the restaurant, which I was just in.       The drive started off nice, with me and dad laughing at my brother Lincoln's stupid jokes. After that fun was done, I shared with my dad the songs I had wrote while on my vacation.       This picture of me was taken when only the last bit of our trip remained. Me and my brother

Giving a Dog a Bath

Image
Just yesterday, me and my friend gave her dog a bath. Let me tell you now he is not as sweet as he looks in this photo. Ok well like every dog, he hates baths so I'm not really blaming him. It started fine. Just us dragging him upstairs and into the bathroom. Then we take his collar off because we just have to. But then we turn the water on, and Remi does not like it at all! He just looks miserable. Like super depressed. And also really adorable! I mean look at that face!  For the first couple seconds it was fine. Then I accidentally taught him that he could get out of the bath if he wanted to. Yeah, don't call to a dog in a bath. The result is them jumping out. So yeah, now I'm soaked, and I had places to go that day and not many clothes. It was fine though! Right? Yeah it was fine.       Well because he was so cute and this was the only way to get adorable pictures, I run downstairs to get their mom's phone to take this adorable picture.       When I do that I make

A Sad Beginning

Image
A couple days ago, I found out some sad news about something that had happened at my home while I was (and still am) on vacation. I'm sure there are many cat lovers in the world, and although I myself am a dog person, I still love my cat and my family's cat's that surround me. My brother's cat Cheese-It had died from a what I believe opossum attack. Cheese-it was the sweeties of a five-cat litter and I miss him very much.  When I first found out I was fine. For the first couple seconds at least. Then it hit me. That cat was gone, and the last time I had seen him I was rushing out the door.  The friends who's house me and my brother are staying at are currently fostering kittens, and they may let us adopt one for my brother to take back home. You can read more about it on my friend's blog. I'll leave a link in the comments below.       My brother will keep the name my friend had given him which is Ozo. He is not afraid of dogs which is good because our dog

My First Post

Image
Sooo this is my first post; time of judgement starts now. After this, no judgy judgy! My name is Leona James. I was named after my great grandmother who I sadly never got to meet.  My parents met at a concert and I'm not even joking it was love at first sight!  My dad is a musician and the lead singer in The New Whole Usuals. They are on Spotify and really good. LISTEN TO THEM!      My mom is an artist and NOT a singer. Don't take it personally mom, I still love you.  I have to siblings Lincoln and Ella. I am the oldest at thirteen. I live on a small farm in Tennessee and have two goats, twenty chickens (At least) and four cats. Oh and one dog Plato.  Now about my blog. I plan to just write about my life. What good things happen; what bad things happen. Exiting moments! I plan to write about the farm, when we get new animals, when we lose animals.  But I also plan to write about writing. I am a writer. I am currently working on my own series called Element. I love to write
